RouteIntel (Route Intelligence)

What is RouteIntel

With millions of miles tracked and logged around the globe, we know a LOT about where people start and end their trips. We can merge all this information to generate the most common destinations and places people go. These are the basis of Destinations and Places. RouteIntel allows a user to generate the real boater routes between these destinations with a single tap.

Explore how people get from A to B, the average real tracked miles (not as the crow flies, but actually factoring in tacks, reef rounding, etc). You'll never need to add waypoints on a navigation app for destination/trip planning again.

The real magic of RouteIntel is ensuring you never miss a great destination. We return the top routes to various destinations in descending order of most popular. It's trip planning made easy.

How to use RouteIntel

From the map
Tap on any destination or place (point of interest). Any time you see the bottom sheet appear with the destination/place cards, you will see a yellow button that reads 'View Route Intelligence'

View Route Intel in SeaPeople

Tapping this button will automatically generate the top 6 routes from the origin destination. You can scroll these destinations in the bottom sheet, or simply make a quick decision based on the on-map distance pills we generate from real boaters average track distances. Looking for a short day or a long day? We make that easy.

On e route intel is live, you can tap around to patios destinations to explore that is there as you make itinerary decisions, then simply dismiss route intelligence with another tap to the yellow button on the map.

From the home feed
Your home feed contains the ability to suggest where to go next thanks to RouteIntel technology. To see our suggestions for where you should go next you must:
1. Have you location permissions on (set to always or while using app)
2. Be inside of a destination polygon.
In future versions we will offer RouteIntel for all areas if the world, connecting you to the nearest known routes passing by your location, but for now we are only generating when users are within a known destination.

From open Destinations & Places
When you open a Destination or Place details screen you will see the ability to generate RouteIntel to/from that place. This is generated with a simple tap of the button, which shows where and how other boaters have routed wither to or from that place.

A prudent mariner checks multiple sources before entering an anchorage, marina, or harbor. SeaPeople is intended for route and destination inspiration. Showing boaters where to go and how people generally get there. It is not intended as navigational advice, charting, track lines to be followed in-app or otherwise. RouteIntel in SeaPeople should be used for general advice on distances and basic route design. Not refuting to be followed while navigating.
