Chats - Everything you need to know
Intro
We designed the chats in SeaPeople just for boaters, making conversations between boaters easier and bringing locations to the chat interface. Imagine never having to ask ‘where are you’ in a chat ever again. Or ‘have you left yet?’
Chat thread user locations
Drag down map at the top of your chat feed to see other chat thread users' locations.
Tap chat title (user name in 1:1 chats) to open a details page of the chat thread user locations and a list of who is in the thread.
Group chats
Creating a Group Chat:
From the Messages Tab Home Screen: Tap the [+] icon located in the upper right corner and choose ‘Create group chat.’ Search for and add users, then proceed by pressing ‘Next.’
Adding Participants:
Users can be added even after the group chat has been created. Simply open the group chat thread, tap the chat title, and select “Add Participants.”
Leaving the Group Chat:
If you wish to remove yourself entirely from the group chat:
Open the group chat message.
Tap the chat title.
Then, tap ‘Leave chat’ located at the bottom of the chat details screen.
Customize / Edit the Chat Title:
Get creative and come up with a fun name for your group on the screen that follows user selection. Remember, the creator of the group chat can rename the chat thread at any time.
To edit the chat title:
Open the chat thread.
Tap the title.
Then, tap the ‘Edit’ button in the upper right corner.
1:1 Chats
Creating сhats:
From the Messages tab: Utilize the [+] icon located in the upper right corner of the messages tab to initiate 1:1 chats, group chats, and hail messages.
From Profiles: While viewing a user's profile, simply hit the ‘Message’ button to start a 1:1 chat.
Leaving сhats:
If you wish to delete a 1:1 chat entirely:
Open the chat thread.
Tap the user's name at the top (title) of the thread.
Then, tap ‘Leave chat’ located at the bottom of the chat details screen.
Adding participants:
You have the option to add a user to a 1:1 chat and convert it into a group chat:
Open the chat thread.
Tap the user's name at the top (title) of the thread.
Select “Add Participants.”
