Australia’s Gold Coast to British Columbia
Meet Nathan and Lindsey. They’re currently making their way toward French Polynesia as part of a reverse Transpacific crossing. A journey that began on Australia’s Gold Coast and is ultimately leading them toward British Columbia in the Pacific Northwest.
Nathan and Lindsey’s boating background was all lake-based through their lives. They first started ocean boating in Florida. While running their company, they decided to spend part of their time living on a motor yacht. At first, the ocean was simply an escape. A place to recharge when the pressures of business became overwhelming. But over time, that escape started to feel like something more.

A New Direction
For Nathan especially, the stress of building a business had started to take a real toll, and it became clear that something needed to change. They weren’t in a position to retire, but they knew they needed a new direction. So they started a YouTube channel and the early success and enjoyment of sharing their journey gave them the push they needed to take the leap sooner than they had planned.
The Bahamas were where the idea of this life really started to take shape. Spending time in the Exumas showed them what was possible. But the moment it truly clicked came during a five-day offshore passage to North Carolina. Out there, days from land, Nathan realized that this wasn’t just about living on a boat. It was about passage-making. About exploring the world by sea. And that this was something they needed to make part of their future.

What's Next?
Looking ahead, their goal isn’t necessarily to circumnavigate, but to explore the world’s most iconic coastlines by boat over the next decade. The South Pacific is already being checked off the list, but many more places are calling. But the real motivation behind it all is the life they’ve built together. Seeing the joy and freedom this journey has brought to Lindsey is what keeps Nathan going on the hard days. And Lindsey says the exact same thing about him. They would do it 100 times over and very much wish they would have done it sooner.

Their Advice?
Along the way, one lesson has stood out above all the others: nothing replaces life experience and relationships. No amount of money, possessions, or status can fill that void. What truly matters is living. And on the water, every day feels like a perfect day. The biggest advice they could give someone is to remove fear from their decision-making process. If you are considering this, and you have the ability to do it, then do NOT let fear stop you!
