SeaPeople is proud to partner with Sailors for the Sea Powered by Oceana to launch the Green Boater Challenge, a chance for every boater in our community to show how they’re caring for the oceans. This challenge is about action, about doing your part, and about earning your Green Boater badge.
What is the Green Boater Challenge?
From September 27 – October 9, 2025, all SeaPeople users are invited to share how they are keeping our oceans clean with their trips and posts in the Green Boater Challenge. It's a chance to share, to join the Sailors for the Sea community, earn a Green Boater Badge, a chance at being featured in a magazine, and be an active part of protecting our lakes, oceans, and streams:

🌱 Become a Green Boater by signing up with Sailors for the Sea (sailorsforthesea.org/SeaPeople)
🏷️ Tag a trip or post that shows how you’re reducing your footprint — cleaning up plastic, using sustainable boating products, preventing waste, protecting wildlife, or volunteering for ocean clean-ups
Have a green hack on your boat? A favorite way to reduce your waste? A simple habit you do to lower your footprint. Share it. Be proud of it.
Every boater who completes those steps will earn the Green Boater badge in SeaPeople. And a chance to get featured in the Green Boating issue of Latitudes and Latitudes Magazine.
Who is Sailors for the Sea
Sailors for the Sea is a leading nonprofit that educates and activates the sailing and boating community toward restoring ocean health. They equip sailors, boaters, event organizers and educators with the science-based solutions, resources and tools they need to protect important ocean habitats, save endangered marine wildlife, and stop ocean pollution. Around the world, Sailors for the Sea has built a community of ocean advocates, from day sailors and cruisers to competitive racers, who are making a difference for our waterways.
And now it’s your chance to get involved!
By joining this challenge, you align with a global movement of boaters who believe in leaving water cleaner than we found it.
What you'll win
This challenge is all about getting certified as a green boater. Wearing that badge in the app with pride. And protecting the thing we all love, the thing we all have in common, our waters. But we'll also pick our favorites from this challenge to be highlighted and published in Latitudes and Attitudes magazine article. Showing the world how you, as an individual, are making a difference.

Open worldwide. No purchase necessary.
To earn the Green Boater badge, you must:
• Join the Green Boater Challenge in SeaPeople
• Sign up to be a Green Boater with Sailors for the Sea at sailorsforthesea.org/SeaPeople
• Tag a trip or post demonstrating sustainable boating practices
Badge is non-transferable. Not redeemable for anything monetary.
Featured users for the magazine article will be notified before publishing.
Participation in this challenge gives SeaPeople and Sailors for the Sea permission to use the tagged content for promotional purposes.
Participation implies agreement with SeaPeople’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
