Life on an Atoll: the Doldrums
📍Home Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands to West Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands
"Spent the last 4 months on Cocos (Keeling) Islands off of Australia. Located in the Indian Ocean, this remote island experiences tiger sharks, manta rays, and the occasional whale shark.
These photos show the “doldrums”. No wind, so it’s hot, but you get this glassy “aquarium like” effect on the water. We could see every detail even 10m down. This is how we spotted the tiger shark. Rare occurrence out here. Then we went for a swim on the edge of the atoll."

Niningo Islands to Jayapura
📍Pacific Ocean, Papua Nova Guinea to Teluk Yos Sudarso, Província d'Irian Jaya Barat, Indonèsia
"Two days ago we left Niningo Islands heading for Biak. The plan was simple… sail straight there. But the ocean had other ideas. A problem with the mainsail forced us to make an unexpected stop in Jayapura. Not quite the destination we had in mind — but hey, at least we moved a little closer east."

Toau to Fakarava

"Short but eventful crossing. Not easy to time wind, tide and daylight this week, which made for a dumpy exit of Toau pass a bit too close to low tide. Then we discovered a stowaway… on our solar panels :)"

A Little Dinghy Ride to a Hidden Lagoon
📍Samudra Pasifik, Papua Occidental, Indonèsia to Rufas, Papua Occidental, Indonèsia
"Just next to where we’re anchored, we found this tiny paradise: Rufas Island. From the outside it looks like just another limestone island… but there’s a secret. A narrow entrance cuts through the rock and suddenly opens into a hidden lagoon, completely enclosed and unreal. We took the dinghy in and climbed up, and the view from the top is just insane — that perfect mix of turquoise water, jungle and sharp karst formations that makes Raja Ampat feel like another planet. Places like this remind you why slow travel is everything. No crowds, no noise… just us and nature."

Exploring Raiatea

"What a beautiful island that we had never heard of before! Crazy how this place is 15nm from Bora Bora and while that island is a household name I have never heard of Raiatea. Great spot!"
